King Faisal has suffered relegation from the betPawa Premier League and will move down to the Division One League.
Their demotion was confirmed when Karela United emerged victorious with a 3-2 win over Bibiani GoldStars at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park.
With only one game remaining in the season, King Faisal’s fate is sealed, as they will finish no higher than 16th place, regardless of the outcomes of the final matches.
Currently occupying 17th place with 39 points, King Faisal trails Tamale City by 3 points, with Tamale City sitting just outside the relegation zone.
In their last game of the season, if King Faisal secures a win and Tamale City suffers a defeat, they would match Tamale City’s points tally. However, due to their inferior head-to-head record against Tamale City this season (with a record of 4-1 in favor of Tamale City), King Faisal would still be unable to finish above them.
Joining Kotoku Royals, King Faisal becomes the second team to be relegated from the Premier League this season.
The final relegation spot will be determined on the last day of the season. Hearts of Oak, Karela United, Accra Lions, Legon Cities, Tamale City, and Great Olympics are all battling to avoid the drop.
