Ghana Premier League: Kotoku Royals thump Tamale City at home

Kotoku Royals recorded the biggest margin win over the weekend as they eased past Tamale City on match day 33 of the betPawa Ghana Premier League.

The Akyem-based side recorded an emphatic 4-1 victory over the Premier League newcomers at the makeshift home venue despite suffering relegation.

Richard Amoah scored for the hosts, Kotoku Royals, after only 16 minutes of play.

The home team increased their lead in the 21st minute when Francis Andy Kumi found the back of the net, but the visitors got one back before the break to make it 2-1.

After the break, Kotoku Royals proved to be the superior team, scoring two more goals to glide to a comfortable home triumph.

Francis Andy Kumi scored his second goal of the game in the 64th minute for Kotoku Royals before Tahir Mensah sealed the victory for the hosts.

Despite the loss, the Tamale-based team is one spot above the drop zone. They occupy the 15th position with 42 points.

Kotoku Royals is already out of the top level. They are in last place with 26 points after 33 games.

The Ghana Premier League’s final round of games has been planned for June 11, 2023 at the various venues.
