Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech has called it quit from the Moroccan national team at the age of 28.
Ziyech announced the decision on Tuesday, February 2, 2022 as he now wants to give all his attention to the “Blues”.
“I would not return to the selection. This is my final decision. It’s clear to me. I focus on my club now. I understand the supporters’ decision, I’m sorry for them. ” Ziyech stated.
The left-footed winger has not been in good terms with national team manager Vahid Halilhodzic who recently indicated that Ziyech won’t be called if he even plays like Messi and Ronaldo put together.
Born in the Netherlands, Ziyech was a former Dutch youth international before switching allegiance to the land of his parents in 2015.
In all, he made 40 appearances for Morocco scoring seventeen goals.
