Former Black Stars coach Charles Kwablah Akonnor and legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan have emphasized the importance of centering the national team around West Ham star Mohammed Kudus.
Gyan, speaking on Asempa FM, hailed Kudus’ exceptional performances in the Premier League, asserting that he is the standout Ghanaian player in Europe and deserves to be the focal point of the team.
Echoing Gyan’s sentiments, Akonnor stressed the need to build the Black Stars around Kudus, citing his remarkable contributions both domestically and internationally.
In an interview with Akoma FM, Akonnor highlighted Kudus’ potential to be the next big star in Ghanaian football and advocated for starting the transition as soon as possible.
“The earlier, of course, the better. Yes, our captain and his brother have performed admirably for the team, but given the current trend, it makes more sense to center Black Stars around Mohammed Kudus. He (Kudus) has shown everyone wrong about his ability to be the next big thing, it makes sense for us to get started as soon as possible.”
As Ghana prepares for upcoming competitions, including World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations, the call to build around Kudus underscores a strategic approach to harnessing the talent of one of the nation’s brightest prospects.
