Burnley have made an enquiry regarding Bristol City’s Antoine Semenyo, who is valued at a hefty £12m, according to Sky Sports.
Burnley is said to be a side who could join the chase for Semenyo earlier this month.
The Ghanaian forward sees his contract expire at the end of this season, although Bristol City hold a 12-month extension option. His situation has piqued the interests of other sides though, with Premier League side Bournemouth said to be interested in the player’s signature.
And now, Sky Sports (Transfer Centre Live, has said that Burnley have now firmed up their interest with an enquiry.
Bristol City are certainly showing no interest in letting Semenyo leave on the cheap though. It is said that the Robins value the forward at a hefty £12m this winter despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract situation.
Whether or not Burnley’s reported interest now develops into anything more serious, it remains to be seen.
Versatile attacker Semenyo has long looked like one of the brightest talents at Ashton Gate and now as a regular Ghana international, the 23-year-old’s stock may continue on an upward trajectory.
Interestingly Semenyo, who has been in and out of Pearson’s starting XI this season, is also being chased by Scottish giants Celtic FC and Crystal Palce.
Of his 21 Championship appearances made this season, Semenyo has only started nine times. With interest arising from elsewhere and his long-term future at Ashton Gate up in the air somewhat, this will be a situation to keep an eye on this month.
The £12m fee quoted may well fend off some interest in his services but with Burnley now among those making their interest known, it will be interesting to see just what comes of the links over the coming weeks.
