Venue:  Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny (Abidjan)
Time: 8 pm,  Saturday

Asec Mimosas will host Wydad Casablanca in Abidjan on matchday 2 of the CAF Champions. Asec Mimosas, the most experienced side in Group B in terms of appearances (12) in the money zone since 1997 opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Simba SC.

The 1998 Champions are poised to compound Wydad Casablanca’s troubles as the Red Devils have lost their last three games in all competitions. They lost the finals of the second leg of the African Football League to Mamelodi Sundowns, a defeat to Jwaneng Galaxy in Morocco and a defeat in mid-week against FAR Rabat in the Botola PRO have put Adil Ramzi under immense pressure as he cannot afford to lose in Abidjan.

Asec Mimosas has won just one game in their last five matches with two defeats and 2 draws including that incredible 1-1 draw against Simba SC.

French gaffer Julien Chevalier, 43, knows how important this match is as a win for Asec Mimosas will help them lead the wounded Wydad Casablanca by 4 points.

The Mimos are expecting a fully charged atmosphere as they play their first home game in the money zone for the first time in 5 years.

H2h

There have been six meetings between the two teams with the Moroccans having the edge with 3 wins to Asec Mimosas’ 2 and 1 draw. In the 3 games played at home against Wydad, Asec Mimosas has won 2 and lost 1 with a 2-0 win in the last meeting in Abidjan in 2019.

Prediction

A difficult game is expected in Abidjan as both sides will go all out for a win. A draw is likely to happen.

2-2
