The first game of the 2023-24 CAF Champions League kicked off at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo. Fagire Lakay, the 26-year-old South African forward scored the only goal of the game in the 54th minute from Fiston Mayele’s assist.
The hosts could have scored more goals but they were unable to find the back of the net due to poor finishing.
With Fiston Mayele, Ramadan Sobhi and Fagrie Lakay all starting for the host, many expected a lot of goals but the whole team was very wasteful in the game.
