Samartex attacker Mohammed Alhassan Mankuyeli has expressed his outfit’s determination to make a positive impression in the CAF Champions League competition.
The Ghanaian Premier League champions, Samartex, are set to make their maiden appearance in the elite competition after dethroning Medeama in the recently concluded Ghana Premier League season.
The Timber giants will face Victoria United in Cameroon on August 18, with the return fixture scheduled for August 25, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium. Mankuyeli has emphasized the team’s resolve to go far in the competition, starting with a win in the first preliminary round.
“We are the Ghana Premier League champions and want to make a positive impression in the CAF Champions League. As debutants, we are working harder to ensure we go far in this competition, firstly by being victors in the 1st preliminary round,” Mankuyeli wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Samartex’s ambition is to make a mark in their maiden CAF Champions League campaign.
The winner of the tie between the Ghanaian outfit and Victoria United will progress to the second preliminary round, where they potentially face Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic for a place in the group stages.
