Augustine Evans Adotey, the head coach of Medeama SC, emphasized that his team faced a formidable and well-organized Remo Stars squad in their CAF Champions League preliminary first leg clash.
In a highly competitive match at the Cape Coast stadium, the Yellow and Mauves secured a 1-0 victory against the Nigerian opponents, thanks to a goal in the first half.
Beginning strongly, the Ghana Premier League champions eventually capitalized on their dominance, with Jonathan Sowah finding the net in the 22nd minute to take the lead.
Reflecting on the encounter during a post-match interview, Adotey noted, “Remo Stars were more fitter than us; we expected them to defend and hit with the counter attack but they attacked and attacked,” he said in a post-match interview.
“We played against a very disciplined team. We did our best and we hope to complete the job in Nigeria,” he affirmed.
The upcoming leg of the match is scheduled for the following week at the Remo Stars stadium in Ogun State, Nigeria. Medeama will endeavor to secure advancement to the subsequent round of the Champions League.
The victor of this contest will face off against the formidable Guinean team, Horoya AC, in the second phase of the preliminary round.
