Dreams FC’s coach, Abdul-Karim Zito, has emphasized the critical nature of their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup encounter against Club Africain.
The match, set to take place at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, is deemed essential for Dreams FC to bolster their position in Group C.
Zito emphasized the team’s preparedness for the crucial fixture, asserting that anything less than a victory would be unacceptable considering their thorough preparation.
“We don’t fear Club Africain. We are preparing seriously. This is a match we must win at all costs to be on the safer side on the ladder,” Zito told the Daily Graphic.
Having suffered a 0-2 defeat in the first leg in Tunis last November, Dreams FC is determined to rectify their mistakes and secure a favorable outcome in Kumasi.
Zito attributed their previous loss to stage fright among the players, exacerbated by the intimidating atmosphere in Tunisia. However, he assured that his team is now eager to showcase their capabilities on Sunday.
“In Tunisia the players were intimidated by the rancorous crowd and the huge stadium. They were blighted by stage fright; most of the players haven’t encountered such a crowd of this nature before, but they are now eager to show what they are made of this Sunday”
Regarding team fitness, Zito mentioned the slight injury sustained by Dreams’ skipper, Abdul Jalilu, during training. Despite this setback, Zito expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, counting on the support of their fans to overcome Club Africain.
”The captain had a knock and we are still assessing him. Aside from that we have our full squad who are very ready for Sunday’s match and with the support from our cherished fans we will definitely crush these Tunisians,” he said confidently.
With center forwards Agyenim Boateng Mensah and John Antwi, alongside attacking midfielder Abdul Aziz Issah, Zito remains optimistic about Dreams FC’s prospects for victory in Kumasi.
