Nora Hauptle, the head coach of Ghana’s national women’s football team, the Black Queens, has acknowledged the formidable challenge her team faces against Zambia’s Copper Queens on Friday.
The two nations’ women’s teams are set to clash in the first leg of their two-legged tie in Round 3 of the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Addressing reporters on Thursday ahead of the match, Coach Nora Hauptle characterized Zambia as a formidable opponent but expressed confidence in the Black Queens’ preparedness and determination to secure victory.
“Zambia is a big opponent. They have been in the World Cup. They played 21 games last year. They have good individual players so I think it’s a must-win and we want to win,” Coach Nora Hauptle stated.
She emphasized the team’s focused preparations, highlighting their commitment to securing a positive result in the upcoming match.
“We have been working very well this week and we are focused on ourselves. It gives us pride that we have won 10 games out of eleven but football the only thing that counts is the next game. You cannot look at the past and we want to pass this qualifying round,” Hauptle added.
The highly anticipated encounter between Ghana and Zambia is scheduled to kick off at 5 pm at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.
