Nsoatreman FC have made an impressive debut in the CAF Confederation Cup, securing a dominant 3-0 victory over Chadian club Elect Sport on Sunday.
The Ghana FA Cup champions put on a commanding performance in the first leg of the preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium, demonstrating both resilience and determination.
The match saw Nsoatreman FC take control early, with Abdul Rahman opening the scoring 31 minutes into the game. Just two minutes later, former Ghana U20 winger Kwabena Adu Meider doubled the lead, giving the home side a comfortable advantage.
Elect Sport’s difficulties were compounded in the second half when their goalkeeper, Mahamat Bechir, was sent off in the 54th minute for handling the ball outside his penalty area. Nsoatreman FC capitalized on their numerical advantage, adding a third goal to secure the emphatic win.
Goalkeeper Daniel Afadzewu was instrumental in preserving the clean sheet, making three crucial saves in the final 20 minutes to keep Elect Sport from finding the back of the net.
With this decisive victory, Nsoatreman FC head into the return leg in N’Djamena on August 24, 2024, with a strong advantage. The aggregate winner of the tie will advance to the second round of the preliminary stage, moving one step closer to the group stages of the competition.
