Ghana’s Black Meteors suffered elimination from the 2023 CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco on Friday evening at Ibn Batouta Stadium.
Ghana drew against the Elephants of Guinea in their make or break encounter at the ongoing tournament in Morocco.
Guinea were the better side for most part of the match and dominated the play right from the blast of the referees whistle on a cool Tuesday night in Morocco.
Guinea came close to opening the scoring in the early stages of the match only for a Guinean player to prevent the ball from entering the net after a free header.
On the other side of the pitch, poor defensive play saw Abdul Fatawu Issahaku putting Emmanuel Yeboah through to score the opening goal of the match to put Ghana in the lead after 33 minutes.
The first half ended 1-0 to Ghana.
Guinea got the equalizer on the 60th minute mark of the match to restore parity for the Yellow and Red team.
Guinea came close to scoring again in the game and were the better team throughout the entire duration of the match.
It ended 1-1 and Ghana are out of the 2024 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament in France, Paris.
