Ahead of the crucial world cup qualifier match between Ghana and Egypt, head of the north African side Hector Cuper speaks out about the injuries in his camp, stating that he believes in the team as a whole.
According to him, “I can’t drop the players who played the 6-1 game because of that. I trust my squad and we are confident in our abilities to win.
“Ghana is a big team but the 6-1 result is exceptional and rarely happens in football,”.
Avram Grant’s Black Stars will be welcomed by Egypt on November 13 at Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria in the second round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers having failed to beat the Cranes of Uganda at the Tamale sports stadium.
The Pharoahs lead Group E with three points, two points ahead of 2nd place Ghana, after drawing one all against Uganda 0-0 at home, while the Egypt beat Congo 2-1.
Hector Cuper speaking in an interview said “I am not a magician. There is no one way to win. I trust my players who are determined to clinch the three points,” The Argentine manager said in the press conference held on Sunday.
Hector Cúper noted that he does not pay attention to any statements made by Ghanaians, and that his focus is only on the game.
“The players and the fans are the reason behind my confidence. I don’t care about any statements made by the Ghanaians and our focus is on the meeting with them,” .
“Injuries make me sad but I trust the substitutes. I believe in the team as a whole, not individuals.
“I am upset about Mostafa Fathi’s injury and we will check on Koka when he arrives but Ramadan Sobhi is fit for the game,” he concluded,
