Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to unveil Ghana’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup today, in line with FIFA’s submission deadline for all participating nations.
The announcement comes as Ghana’s technical team completes final preparations with a 28-man provisional squad currently in camp in Cardiff ahead of the global tournament.
The squad has been undergoing intensive training sessions since last week as the team fine-tunes its strategy for the competition to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
FIFA has directed all qualified nations to submit their final player lists by June 1, prompting the Black Stars management to finalize their selection later today.
After the squad announcement, Ghana will continue its build-up with a pre-tournament friendly against Wales on June 2, before facing Jamaica on June 10 in another preparatory match.
The Black Stars will be aiming to make a strong impact at the tournament, with hopes of progressing beyond the group stage for the first time since their memorable quarter-final finish at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The team will begin its campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, face England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium, and conclude the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
This will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, with expectations high for a strong performance on the global stage.
