Asante Kotoko made the right move by parting ways with Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, according to club legend Opoku Nti.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, Opoku Nti explained that the timing was perfect because there were only a few matches left in the season. “I believe the timing was right. We had about six matches left before Zito arrived — now it’s five — and I think it was the correct decision,” he said.
He added that something was not working with the team under Ogum, and it was better to make a change quickly rather than risk the entire team’s performance collapsing. “The way Kotoko was playing match after match, something wasn’t clicking. It’s better to sacrifice one individual than risk the entire team falling apart,” Opoku Nti noted.
He pointed out that such decisions are common even in European football. “This happens even in Europe. I knew that if they changed the coach, Kotoko could win two or three matches in a row,” he added.
