Chris Hughton, the head coach of the Black Stars, revealed during his unveiling that their primary objective is to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, despite acknowledging that he cannot guarantee a trophy.
On Thursday, March 23, the four-time African champions will face Angola in the third match of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers in Kumasi, followed by a return fixture in Luanda three days later.
Hughton and his squad have been training for the game since last Monday, with their final session taking place at the match venue with a full squad. To improve their chances of qualification, Ghana must defeat Angola in both matches since they are presently tied on four points each.
The former Newcastle United manager stated that their primary goal is to qualify for the AFCON, as the country has done for over a decade, and that they will strive to perform admirably this time around.
“Our aim is to qualify for AFCON and do well,” Hughton stated at a pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
