The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced that the much-anticipated Elective Congress will be held before the conclusion of October 2023.
This decision was prompted by concerns regarding the potential extension of the current Executive Council’s mandate, led by President Kurt Okraku, beyond the specified October timeframe.
In a statement issued on July 6, 2023, Prosper Harrison Addo, the General Secretary of the GFA, sought to reassure the public by confirming that the Election Committee has already commenced discussions with various clubs.
The committee’s main objective is to establish a comprehensive roadmap that will govern the upcoming elections, ensuring a fair and transparent process in accordance with the organization’s statutes.
Additionally, the Elections Committee has emphasized the necessity of determining the nomination fee, the exact amount of which will be decided during the upcoming Ordinary Congress on July 10 at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi. Only after the nomination fee has been finalized will nominations be accepted for the highly-anticipated elections.
These recent developments underscore the GFA’s commitment to upholding democratic principles and involving all relevant stakeholders in shaping the future of Ghanaian football.
With mounting anticipation, football enthusiasts eagerly await the forthcoming Elective Congress, which will provide a platform for meaningful discussions and the election of representatives who can drive positive change within the sport.
