Congolese defender Ndongani Samba O’Neil was voted the Most Valuable Player after helping Asante Kotoko lift the maiden edition of the Democracy Cup against Accra Hearts of Oak on Wednesday.
Samba, playing his debut game for the Porcupine Warriors, announced his presence with a masterclass performance that helped his side beat the Rainbows 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Congolese centre-back was outstanding in Kotoko’s defence with brilliant blocks and clearances.
Speaking to the club’s media, Samba compared his playing style to that of the Spanish international Sergio Ramos. “I play like Sergio Ramos. People used to call me Sergio Ramos because they believe I play just like him. I will just prove it on the pitch,” he said.
The highly-rated defender completed his move to the Porcupine Warriors on Thursday and is expected to play a significant role for the club in the upcoming season.
