Ghana international Joseph Paintsil played a key role in the Los Angeles Galaxy’s victory over the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday night.
Galaxy defeated their opponents 3-2 on matchday 25 of the Major League Soccer (MLS), with Paintsil scoring one and setting up another.
Diego Fagundez opened the score for the host team after just 12 minutes at the Dignity Health Sports Park.
Paintsil restored the advantage 25 minutes later, knocking in from close range off a square cross from Gabriel Pec to make it 2-1 after Colorado’s Kevin Cabral scored.
The Ghanaian then set up Riqui Puig, a former Barcelona midfielder, to extend Galaxy’s lead.
The visitors scored late in the first half to make it 3-2.
Despite solid efforts from both teams, there were no goals on the return from the break, and Galaxy took all three points home.
Paintsil’s two goals last night bring his total to 12 in 21 outings, with seven goals and five assists.
