Ibrahim Saanie Daara, the former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, has expressed his opinion that journalist Patrick Osei Agyemang, commonly known as Countryman Songo, has made no meaningful contributions to Kotoko’s administrative work since his appointment.
Countryman Songo, known for his outspoken nature, joined Kotoko’s communication team in January of the previous year. However, according to Saanie Daara, the journalist has failed to make a positive impact on the club’s operations.
Kotoko, currently positioned fourth with 48 points and two games remaining in the 2022/23 BetPawa Premier League season, will not be able to defend their league title from the previous season.
Saanie Daara emphasized the challenges of football administration, stating that it is not an easy task. He also highlighted the difference between criticizing from a distance and actually being involved in the job, using sports journalists serving in football administration as an example.
Regarding Songo’s role at Kotoko, Saanie Daara questioned the journalist’s contributions to the club since joining the management team. He emphasized that the complexities of football administration cannot be simplified as easily as fitting a puzzle piece into an empty hole.
Saanie Daara said: “Football administration is not easy. Sitting back afar you can criticize anyhow but given the job you won’t have an idea of what you criticized.
“Example is Sports journalists getting the opportunity to serve in football administration.
“And I can mention Songo, what has Songo brought to Kotoko since he came to Kotoko as part of the management?
“It’s not easy as some easy puzzle to be pushed in an empty hole”
These comments were made by Ibrahim Sannie Daara during an interview on Kessben Sports.
