Former Accra Hearts of Oak SC head coach, Kim Grant says striker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has every right to refuse to sign a new contract with the club.
He says the club should have long extended the contract of the player before hitting his peak and the situation getting out of hands.
“He’s played two years for the club. He’s been successful in helping the club win championships and qualify for Africa.
“The player has every right to refuse the new contract but you have to look at Hearts of Oak,why did they not put a new contract before he was very very successful.”
“He is not selfish,he is a football player. He wants to play in the best leagues in the world.I think people should be kind to Barnie a bit.”
During his time at the club, the youngster captained and won the 2021 Africa Youth Championship and the WAFU Zone B U-20 tournament respectively.
He helped Ghana to qualify for the CHAN tournament after missing the last three editions and scored three goals as Black Meteors qualifier against Mozambique and ready to play DR Congo for a place in the next CAF U23 tournament in Algeria.
Barnieh have won two back-to-back MTN FA CUP trophies with the Rainbow Boys and one Ghana Premier League title which was the first in over a decade for the Phobians.
