Asante Kotoko are closing in on the signing of former Medeama SC attacker Derrick Fordjour as the Porcupine Warriors continue their squad rebuild ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The experienced forward has emerged as one of Kotoko’s latest transfer targets after parting ways with Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC following the expiration of his contract.
Fordjour, 26, leaves the Tarkwa-based club as a free agent after spending four successful years with the Mauve and Yellow, a period that saw him play a key role in one of the most successful eras in Medeama’s history.
During his time at the club, the attacker was part of two Ghana Premier League title-winning campaigns, contributing his experience and versatility to Medeama’s domestic success.
His availability has attracted interest from several clubs, but Asante Kotoko have moved quickly to secure his services as they look to add more firepower and depth to their attacking department.
The Porcupine Warriors are keen to strengthen their squad after an inconsistent campaign and view Fordjour’s experience in the Ghana Premier League as a valuable addition ahead of the new season.
The former Medeama man is expected to bring qualities such as physical presence, tactical discipline and familiarity with top-flight football, having competed at the highest level in Ghana for several seasons.
A move to Kotoko would represent a new challenge for Fordjour, who will be tasked with helping the club compete for major honours in the upcoming campaign.
Should negotiations be concluded successfully, Fordjour will become one of the notable domestic transfers ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season as Kotoko continue preparations to reclaim their position among Ghana’s elite clubs.
