Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has tipped Derrick Köhn to become the most influential foreign-born player for Ghana since Kevin-Prince Boateng.
The 26-year-old has been named in Black Stars’ 24-man squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali scheduled for next month.
The Union Berlin defender made 27 appearances and scored twice during last season’s loan spell with Werder Bremen.
“Derrick Köhn will be the most influential foreign-born player for Ghana since Kevin-Prince Boateng,” Sannie posted on social media.
The Black Stars will face Chad on Thursday, September 4, at the Stade Olympique in N’Djamena, before hosting Mali on Monday, September 8, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana currently lead Group I after six matches and are pushing for a fifth appearance at the World Cup.
Meanwhile, the squad will officially open camp on Monday, September 1, in Accra.
