Ghana U-20, the Black Satellites gaffer Desmond Ofei is determined to secure a spot for the Black Satellites at the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana failed to show up at the tournament in Ivory Coast in the last edition of the competition.
Looking forward to this year’s WAFU B tournament in Togo, the head coach showed his determination to take Ghana to the AFCON, which will take place in January in Ivory Coast.
“As a coach in my position, I will do everything I can to prepare this team to qualify for the AFCON,” he shared in an interview with SuperSport. “It will not only mean a lot for me but for the nation as well.”
“I think we are starving a bit in terms of success. It hasn’t been easy with our U-17, and our Black Princesses just came back from Colombia and couldn’t make it out from the group stage,” he said. “It’s time for us to put the nation back on the map, which Basigi did by qualifying to the World Cup, and we want to do the same.”
Ghana will Kickstart their WAFU B campaign against Benin on October 17, before facing Niger and Togo.
Ofei earlier this year led Ghana to gold at the 2023 African Games in Accra and has suffered multipled defeats in Europe on tour with his team.
