Hearts of Oak coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has acknowledged his team’s ongoing struggles in front of goal following their narrow 1–0 defeat to Medeama SC on Sunday at the TnA Park. The result highlighted the Phobians’ continued difficulties in converting chances, an issue that has plagued them throughout the season.
A second-half strike from former Hearts midfielder Salim Adams proved decisive, giving Medeama all three points and extending their lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League table. Despite a spirited effort, Hearts repeatedly failed to make their opportunities count, underlining a worrying trend for the 20-time Ghanaian champions.
Speaking to the media after the match, Dramani admitted that goalscoring remains the biggest challenge for his side.
“Absolutely, goalscoring is really a problem,” Dramani said.
“You saw the chance we had in the first half and the one in the second half. These chances you don’t miss, but we’re still a work in progress.”
The numbers tell a stark story: after 17 matches, Hearts of Oak have scored just 11 goals, while conceding 7, leaving them with a modest goal difference of +4. For a club of their stature, the return is far below expectations and raises concerns over their title ambitions.
The defeat leaves Hearts of Oak fifth on the league table with 28 points, trailing league leaders Medeama as the season enters a decisive phase. Attention now shifts to Matchday 18, where Dramani and his squad will face Hohoe United, a game that offers an opportunity to address their attacking deficiencies and reignite their climb up the standings.
