David Serebour Boateng, a former member of Asante Kotoko’s management, believes that the dissolved board of the club was comprised of competent members who were unable to carry out their mandate effectively due to internal issues.
According to reports, the board of Asante Kotoko, based in Kumasi, has been dissolved following the expiration of their three-year mandate, which was set to end in August of this year. The board was chaired by Dr. Kwame Kyei.
Speaking in an interview on Happy FM regarding the recent developments at the club, David Serebour explained that the timing of the board’s dissolution suggests that there is an alternative plan in place by the authorities.
“Otumfuo will not just get up and dissolve the board, obviously in his wisdom, there is an alternative plan. This board formed is one of the best in the club’s history because they were full of competent members who are well established. However, the only reason I think the board couldn’t fully fulfill its mandate is because there were internal issues that couldn’t be solved”.
The board, inaugurated on June 9, 2020, by the Owner and Life Patron of the club, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu, consisted of 12 members. Dr. Kwame Kyei served as the board chairman, with Mr. Jude Arthur as the vice chairman. Other members included Kwadwo Boateng Gyamfi, Kwasi Osei Ofori, Kwamena Mensah, Miss Evelyn Nsiah Asare, Mr. Kofi Amoah Abban, Mr. Martin Osei Kwaku Brobbey, Mr. James Osei Brown, Nana Ankobeahene of Asanteman – Baffour Kwame Kusi, Alhaji Lamin, and Joseph Yaw Adu.
Meanwhile, the club’s management, led by Nana Yaw Amponsah as CEO, is expected to continue their work as his three-year mandate comes to an end.
