Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah has made an emotional appeal to the club’s supporters, asking them to remain patient and continue backing the team despite their recent struggles in the ongoing season.
The Porcupine Warriors have endured a difficult spell, suffering consecutive setbacks in both competitions. They were beaten by Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League before crashing out of the MTN FA Cup following defeat to Aduana FC last Sunday.
With attention now turning to the highly anticipated Super Clash against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak, Amoah, who rejoined the club during the winter transfer window, has called on the fan base to stay united and rally behind the players.
Speaking to Akoma FM, the striker stressed the importance of supporter presence, admitting that the team draws strength from the fans’ encouragement.
“Our performance is what matters, but our supporters should continue to believe in us and not give up on the team,” Amoah said. “I want to plead with them to come out in their numbers and support us. Honestly, without them, it sometimes feels like we are not playing for anyone.”
Kotoko head into the crucial fixture without a permanent head coach after Karim Zito stepped down from his role. Assistant coaches Prince Yaw Owusu and Hamza Obeng have temporarily taken charge as the club prepares for the big encounter.
The two sides are separated by just a single point on the league table, with Hearts of Oak sitting fourth on 36 points while Kotoko trail closely in fifth place with 35, setting the stage for a fiercely contested showdown.
