Asamoah Gyan is urging football fans to show patience with the Black Stars as the team navigates through a transitional period.
The senior national team has faced challenges this year, including a 2-0 loss to Nigeria in a friendly match in March, following their early exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
Despite this, the team is gearing up for improved performances in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic later this month.
Gyan acknowledges that the four-time African champions are currently undergoing a rebuilding phase and calls on Ghanaians to support coach Otto Addo and the players.
He emphasized, “For me, everything is possible. It depends on the playing body. We have very young players coming up that can make a difference.”
Gyan emphasized the importance of a balanced team, saying, “There’s a good blend of youth and experience. It all depends on the team. We shouldn’t put pressure on them.”
He emphasized the need for patience and understanding, stating, “If results don’t come, you see criticism, but this is a different generation altogether that is under rebuilding. Any win is a bonus. It is a gradual process; let them play their game.”
With Ghana having earned three points from two games in the qualifiers, Gyan stressed the importance of avoiding further setbacks. The team faces Mali in Bamako on June 6, followed by a match against the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi four days later.
