In the wake of Professor Peter Twumasi’s departure, Dr. Dodzie Numekevor has been appointed as the interim Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).
The appointment, sanctioned by Secretary to the President Nana Bediatuo Asante on February 26, 2024, grants Dr. Numekevor a 14-day window to accept the pivotal role.
This significant organizational change comes after Professor Twumasi’s tenure as Director General, spanning six years, came to an end.
His removal followed a summons to the Jubilee House for questioning on various matters, where his plea for clemency was unsuccessful.
A subsequent communique to the board confirmed that Professor Twumasi’s efforts to retain his position were unavailing, leading to his termination from the role.
Professor Twumasi assumed the Director General position on December 10, 2018, succeeding Robert Sarfo Mensah, who resigned amid allegations stemming from the ‘Number 12’ exposé by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Tiger Eye PI.
In addition to the change in leadership at the national level, several regional NSA officials, including Salamatu Alhassan, Alexander Tiiku, Emmanuel Appiah, and Daniel Sarpei, have been reassigned to the head office in Accra as part of broader organizational restructuring efforts.
