Dr. Augustine Kwaku Oteng, the President and Founder of Angel Group of Companies, has categorically stated that he has no desire to become the next Executive Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko SC.
Recent reports speculated about Kwaku Oteng’s potential interest in the position following his visit to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the life patron of Asante Kotoko, at his residence in the United Kingdom a few days ago.
Local media has been abuzz with news that Manhyia, the seat of the Asantehene, is considering dissolving the current board of directors and appointing new members.
The current board, led by Executive Chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei, is reportedly preparing for their final meeting, during which they will finalize their reports and present them to Otumfuo Osei Tutu.
An online picture showing Kwaku Oteng posing with Otumfuo has further fueled speculation that he could be the next in line for the top job at Asante Kotoko.
However, in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM, Dr. Kwaku Oteng clarified his stance, stating, “I am not interested in being the next Asante Kotoko Executive Board Chairman.”
Asante Kotoko finished the 2022-23 betPawa Premier League season in fourth place with 52 points, falling short of winning the league title and the FA Cup.
