Kennedy Boakye Ansah, the brands and commercial manager of Nations FC, a newly promoted team in the Ghana premier league, has clarified that the club does not belong to Dr. Kwame Kyei, the chairman of Asante Kotoko.
In an interview on Kessben TV’s Midfield Action with Sir Joe Laka, Boakye Ansah emphasized that Dr. Kwame Kyei is merely a godfather of the club who provides support in various ways.
Boakye Ansah explained that the club is owned by Devine Kyei and Paul Kyei Baffour, the sons of Dr. Kwame Kyei. He clarified that Dr. Kwame Kyei supports the club financially and offers advice but does not have ownership rights.
“He plays a very important role in the club. Without his support, we would not have qualified for the Premier League. However, let me reiterate that the club belongs to Divine and Paul, his sons. Dr. Kwame Kyei is only the godfather of the club, supporting and helping his sons succeed,” Boakye Ansah stated.
Last year, Dr. Kwame Kyei’s sons purchased Bekwai Youth Football Academy and rebranded it as Nations FC.
