Dutch-born Ghanaian ace midfielder Jeffrey Nana Darko Sarpong has left Lithuania club FK Panevėžys, citing family reasons for his decision to exit the team.
Sarpong, whose contract was valid until the end of this season, is eaving the capital of Aukštaitija for family reasons.
Representing “Panevėžys” in his last match, J. Sarpongas played his last game against Marijampolė “Sūduva” last Sunday September 1 at the “Aukštaitija” Stadium.
The talented enforcer, has left the brightest mark in the club’s history. Sarpong joined the team at the beginning of 2021 and scored 18 goals and made 28 assists in 127 matches in the Lithuanian Championship.
In the FPRO LFF Cup, the midfielder played 10 duels, during which he scored 2 times, and also competed a couple of times in the Supercup and 13 times in UEFA competitions. With the crew of the capital of Aukštaitija, J. Sarpong has won the Super Cup twice and once became the Lithuanian champion.
Meanwhile, Sportsworldghana.com understands that Sarpong, 36, is making a return to his home country, the Netherlands to continue his footballing career.
He has previous had stints with Real Sociedad, Hercules, Wellington Phoenix, Veria, Elazigspor and Xanthi.
