Dutch Eredivisie side NAC Breda have expressed interest in Ghanaian midfielder Kamal Sowah following his recent exit from Belgian club Club Brugge.
Sowah, 23, mutually terminated his contract with Brugge on January 16, 2024, ending a three-year stint with the Belgian giants. The Ghanaian international is now expected to return to the Eredivisie before the January transfer window closes.
NAC Breda, managed by Carl Hoefkens, are reportedly preparing a deal for Sowah. Hoefkens has a history of working with the versatile midfielder, having signed him for Club Brugge and later coaching him during his loan spell at Standard Liège. The strong professional relationship between the two is a significant factor in NAC Breda’s interest.
Sowah’s ability to play both on the flanks and in central midfield makes him an appealing option for the Dutch side, who are in urgent need of reinforcements. His versatility and familiarity with Hoefkens’ tactical style are seen as key assets for Breda.
The Ghanaian endured a challenging time at Brugge after Hoefkens’ departure, spending loan spells at Standard Liège and AZ Alkmaar. Despite these setbacks, he managed 53 appearances and scored two goals during his time with the Belgian outfit.
A graduate of the Right to Dream Academy, Sowah is now poised to reunite with his former coach and make a fresh start in Dutch football.
