Anderlecht head coach David Hubert has ruled out midfielder Majeed Ashimeru’s involvement in the remainder of the club’s regular season, expressing optimism that the Ghanaian international will return to full fitness in time for the playoffs.
Ashimeru, 27, has been sidelined since November last year after sustaining a significant muscle tear during a league game against Kortrijk. The injury has kept him out of action, limiting him to just ten league appearances this season, during which he scored one goal.
“He is still in recovery and hasn’t rejoined full training with the team,” Hubert said. “I don’t expect him to feature during the regular season, but we are confident he will be ready for the playoffs.”
Despite making progress in his rehabilitation, Ashimeru’s absence has been felt by Anderlecht as they navigate the campaign without one of their key midfielders.
The club remains hopeful that the former Red Bull Salzburg player will regain peak condition in time to make a meaningful contribution when the stakes are highest in the playoffs.
