England-born Ghanaian forward Eddie Nketiah played a pivotal role in Crystal Palace’s 2-1 triumph over Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
Nketiah, who recently joined Palace from Arsenal, started the third-round clash and wasted no time making an impact.
The forward opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a well-taken strike, giving Crystal Palace an early lead at Loftus Road. Despite QPR’s efforts, the Eagles carried their 1-0 advantage into halftime.
QPR responded strongly in the second half, equalizing through Sam Field. However, Palace regained control shortly after, with Eberechi Eze restoring the lead for the visitors in the 64th minute.
Crystal Palace managed to hold on to their 2-1 lead, booking their place in the fourth round of the competition. Ghana’s Jeffrey Schlupp came on in added time, replacing Daichi Kamada to help secure the victory.
