Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Jayden Addai delivered an impressive performance, netting twice to guide Jong AZ Alkmaar to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Jong Ajax in a fiery derby clash at Sportpark De Toekomst.
Jong Ajax opened the scoring just before halftime with a header from Jaydon Banel. However, the match shifted dramatically when Ahmetcan Kaplan was sent off after receiving a second yellow card, reducing Jong Ajax to ten men.
Addai took full advantage of the situation, equalizing in the 55th minute with a spectacular long-range strike. Just three minutes later, he coolly converted a penalty to secure the win for Jong AZ.
This victory not only highlighted Addai’s talent but also extended Jong AZ Alkmaar’s strong record against their rivals, boasting eight wins and three draws in previous meetings.
Jong AZ will look to carry this momentum into their next league fixture against De Graafschap on September 23.
