Rising Ghanaian talent Edmund Baidoo delivered a standout performance for RB Salzburg, playing a key role in their narrow 2-1 win over Blau-Weiss Linz in the Austrian Bundesliga.
The 19-year-old forward was instrumental in Salzburg’s comeback, providing an assist and netting a dramatic stoppage-time winner that keeps the club’s hopes for Champions League qualification alive.
The match got off to a fast-paced start, with BW Linz taking the lead just nine minutes in through Simon Seidl. Salzburg, however, remained composed and continued to press for an equaliser.
Their efforts paid off in the 79th minute when Baidoo displayed sharp vision and decision-making to set up Serbian striker Petar Ratkov, who calmly slotted home to level the game.
As both teams battled for a winner, chances went begging at both ends. But in the dying moments of the game, Baidoo made his mark once again. A shot from Dorgeles Nene was parried into the air by BW Linz goalkeeper Radek Vitek, and Baidoo showed great awareness and composure to nod the ball into an open net, sealing the victory for Salzburg.
The late goal underscored Baidoo’s growing importance at the club. With three goals this season—two of which have secured wins—he is quickly becoming a decisive figure in Salzburg’s attacking line.
Baidoo’s performance not only strengthens his place in the team but also adds to his reputation as one of Ghana’s most promising young talents making waves in European football.
