Following the conclusion of the TotalEnergies U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, several players were recognized for their outstanding performances.
Egypt U23 captain, Ibrahim Adel, was named the Best Player of the tournament, highlighting his exceptional contributions.
Hosts Morocco claimed the championship title on home soil with a 2-1 victory over Egypt in the final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat on Saturday. This achievement further solidified their success in the competition.
Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, the Moroccan striker, emerged as the top scorer of the tournament, securing the Umbro Golden Boot award with three goals. Ezzalzouli displayed remarkable goal-scoring prowess throughout the competition, although he fell short of surpassing Nigerian Oghenekaro Etebo’s record of five goals, which has stood since 2015.
Ibrahim Adel, the captain of Egypt’s U23 team, was rightfully recognized as the tournament’s best player. Adel’s exceptional performances played a vital role in guiding his team to the final. His midfield dominance and playmaking abilities showcased his talent and leadership on the field.
Hamza Alaa, the goalkeeper for Al Ahly, received the award for the best goalkeeper. Alaa demonstrated outstanding agility, authority, and excellent technical control of the ball, remaining unbeatable until the final where he conceded two goals. His remarkable skills earned him this prestigious accolade.
Additionally, Guinea, who finished fourth in the U23 CAF Cup, was honored with the Fair Play Award for their exemplary sportsmanship displayed throughout the tournament. Their conduct and fair play were recognized and appreciated by the organizers.
