Ghanaian footballer Emmanuel Boateng emerged as the hero for Rio Ave, coming off the bench to secure a crucial draw against Farense in the Portuguese top-flight over the weekend.
The former Levante striker’s decisive contribution came in the second half of the match at the Estádio de São Lúis, where he replaced Adrien Silva. With Rio Ave trailing, Boateng’s entry injected vitality into his team’s attack.
After Farense took the lead in the 31st minute through Fabricio Isidoro, Boateng swiftly responded, netting the equalizer just five minutes into the second half, ensuring his side a share of the points.
Despite both teams’ efforts, the game concluded in a 1-1 stalemate, marking the 27-year-old’s sixth goal of the season and adding to his tally of four assists in 20 appearances.
Boateng’s stellar performance highlights his significance to Rio Ave’s campaign, yet despite his form, he finds himself excluded from the Black Stars squad for the upcoming clashes against Nigeria and Uganda during the March international break.
