Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus has labeled his extraordinary solo goal against SC Freiburg as a potential pinnacle in his football journey, reflecting on his remarkable performance in West Ham’s recent 5-0 victory.
In an exclusive interview with West Ham’s media outlet, Kudus shared his thoughts after netting twice in The Hammers’ commanding win over the German side, securing a convincing 5-1 aggregate triumph and advancing to the Europa League quarterfinals.
The midfielder’s standout moment came in the 77th minute when he embarked on a mesmerizing solo run from midfield, breezing past three Freiburg defenders before calmly slotting the ball into the net with his right foot. He later sealed his stellar display with a second goal in the 85th minute.
Reflecting on his exceptional effort, Kudus expressed, “I believe so [it ranks among my top five goals]. I’ll have to review it again. It’s one of my aspirations as a player, taking on defenders and attempting to conjure something out of nothing, so when I found myself with space, I thought let’s go for it.”
With eyes set on the future, Mohammed Kudus and his West Ham United teammates are preparing to face Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League quarterfinals, aiming to continue their impressive run in the competition.
