St Patrick’s Athletic goalkeeper Joseph Tetteh Anang has officially declared his availability to play for Ghana at the senior international level.
The 24-year-old, who previously featured for England at youth level, confirmed his decision from Ireland, where he currently plies his trade. Anang, a former West Ham United player and UEFA Conference League winner, has been in outstanding form this season, registering five clean sheets in eight appearances in the Irish Premier Division. His impressive displays earned him the Man of the Match award in the recent derby clash against Shelbourne.
Though Anang had earlier expressed a desire to represent Ghana, his switch was delayed due to bureaucratic hurdles. However, with his position as St Patrick’s first-choice goalkeeper now firmly secured, the talented shot-stopper is ready to fully commit to the Black Stars.
Anang’s inclusion could significantly bolster Ghana’s goalkeeping department, which has faced challenges since the departure of veteran Richard Kingson. He is expected to bring strong competition to current first-choice Benjamin Asare, as well as established squad members Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Jojo Wollacott.
