Brighton and Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey says he is delighted to be back on the pitch after a long time out.
The Ghana international made his first appearance in over four months on Friday after featuring in Brighton’s defeat to Newcastle United.
Lamptey was on for the last 10 minutes of the game in the encounter, replacing Jan Paul van Hecke.
Though Brighton went on to surrender their 1-0 lead, it was the return of the right-back that caught the attention of many. Lamptey had not played for the club since the 4-0 win over West Ham United in March during the 2022/23 Premier League season.
The player had been out with an injury and only returned to team training earlier this month to join his teammates for pre-season ahead of the new season.
The player shared a post on his social media expressing his satisfaction after making the much-anticipated return.
“Thank God always! Enjoyed being back out there now time to push on!” he wrote.
