Eric Chelle names Mali’s final 27-man squad

Mali head coach Eric Chelle has revealed his final squad for the 2023 AFCON with the squad headlined by skipper Hamari Traore of Real Sociedad, Yves Bissouma of Tottenham Hotspurs, Aliou Dieng of Al Ahly and Sekou Koita of Salzburg.

However, the Eagles are missing many quality players. Stars like Crystal Palace midfielder Cheik Doucoure miss out due to injury, Atalanta’s forward Bilal Toure, Lens defender Massadio Haidara and  Standard Liege winger Moussa Djenepo also miss out.

Mali is in Group E and will play against South Africa, Tunisia and Namibia.

Aboubacar Doumbia (Afrique Football Elite), Djigui Diarra (Young Africans), Ismael Diawara (Malmo)

Defenders: Amadou Dante (Sturm Graz), Moussa Diarra (Toulouse), Mamadou Fofana (Amiens), Boubacar Kiki Kouyate (Montpellier), Sikou Niakate (Sporting Braga), Falaye Sacko (Montpellier), Hamari Traore (Stade Rennais)

Midfielders:
