Erik ten Hag is expected to be in attendance when Manchester United take on Crystal Palace on Sunday for the final day of the 2021/22 season, before officially starting work the next day.
United’s trip to Selhurst Park is their last game of a disastrous campaign, with the Red Devils already guaranteed to record their lowest-ever Premier League points tally.
They could even drop down to seventh into the Europa Conference League qualifying place if they lose to Patrick Vieira’s side and West Ham also defeat Brighton on the final day.
Ten Hag has already been in the UK this week to get to work at United early, effectively ending his Ajax contract slightly early and forgoing a post-season trip to Curacao in order to give himself the maximum preparation time for what is a huge job at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman, along with incoming assistant manager Mitchell van der Gaag, are currently in London where the club’s Mayfair offices are located. This is where the majority of United’s top-level decisions are hammered out.
As per De Telegraaf, Ten Hag will discuss the club’s transfer strategy over the coming days before attending the Palace game to assess the club’s current crop of players.
Van der Gaag will also be present at Selhurst Park, and 90min understands he will soon be joined at United by Steve McClaren – with the club agreeing personal terms with the former England manager for a role as a hands-on first-team coach.
