Asamoah Gyan has expressed his support for Ernest Nuamah after the young player received his first call-up to the senior national team, the Black Stars.
Nuamah, who currently plays for FC Nordsjaelland, has been included in the 24-man squad for the upcoming matchday five games against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The 19-year-old has been a standout performer for both his club and the Black Meteors, playing a significant role in qualifying the team for the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is scheduled to be held in Morocco later this month.
Gyan believes that Nuamah’s call-up to the Black Stars is well-deserved, stating,
“Ernest Nuamah’s call-up to the Black Stars is excellent because he is a good player,” he told Asempa FM.
“I posted him after the Black Meteors qualified for the CAF U-23 AFCON and I said he will be a good player and I am happy with his inclusion,” he added.
He had previously commended Nuamah’s skills after the Black Meteors secured their qualification for the CAF U-23 AFCON. Gyan expressed his satisfaction with the young player’s inclusion in the squad.
In recognition of his impressive performances, Nuamah was named the Player of the Year for the 2022/23 Danish Superliga. He had a successful campaign with FC Nordsjaelland, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists. Although his team narrowly missed out on winning the Danish league title, Nuamah’s contributions were acknowledged.
He was also voted the Best Player of the Spring in the 2023 Superligaen, receiving the award from Andreas Schjelderup, who had won it in the autumn of 2022, where Nuamah finished in sixth place.
