Athletic Bilbao secured a vital 2-1 win over Ludogorets Razgrad in their UEFA Europa League Group F showdown, fueled by second-half goals from Iñaki Williams and Nico Serrano.
Ludogorets opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Erick Marcus pounced on a loose ball following a corner, drilling a low shot from outside the box. The goal was upheld after a VAR review, giving the Bulgarian side an early lead. Although Bilbao dominated possession and created more chances, they struggled to break down Ludogorets’ defense in the first half.
The turning point came in the 73rd minute when Oscar De Marcos sent a pinpoint cross into the box, allowing Iñaki Williams to deliver a precise right-footed shot into the bottom corner to level the score. Just one minute later, Bilbao seized the lead on a rapid counterattack as Nico Serrano netted the winner, expertly assisted by Unai Gómez.
This victory strengthens Athletic Bilbao’s position in Group F as they now shift focus to their upcoming La Liga clash against Real Valladolid, eager to maintain their momentum.
