Barcelona returned to Europa League action for the first time in 18 years on Thursday evening as Napoli drew them 1-1 at the Camp Nou in the first leg of their play-off tie and four African players were heavily involved in the encounter.
Piotr Zielinski scored first for the visitors in the 29th minute before Ferran Torres equalized for Barcelona.
As their only realistic chance of silverware this season, Barcelona will be hoping for a long run in Europe’s second competition.
The four African players involved in Thursday’s match were : Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang started for Barcelona whilst AFCON winner Kalidou Koulibaly of Senegal, Victor Osimhen of Niegria and Cameroonian Zambo Anguissa started for Napoli.
