Former Ghana international Augustine Ahinful has commended the performances of Black Stars players Ernest Nuamah and Antoine Semenyo in recent matches.
Both players played vital roles in the national team’s recent games against Central African Republic (CAR) and Liberia.
In the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against CAR, Semenyo made a significant impact by coming off the bench and providing an assist for Nuamah, contributing to Ghana’s 2-1 victory and qualification for the upcoming AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.
In an international friendly against Liberia at the Accra Sports Stadium, Nuamah, who recently joined Lyon, showcased his talent by scoring a goal, contributing to the Black Stars’ 3-1 win.
While praising the contributions of Semenyo and Nuamah, Ahinful also offered some constructive advice to Nuamah. He suggested that Nuamah should not always attempt to dribble past defenders and should develop the awareness to pass the ball when necessary.
Ahinful expressed his satisfaction with the players’ performances, highlighting their seamless integration into the national team.
“They’ve done well, but Nuamah needs to learn not to take players on all the time. Not all balls require taking on a player,” Ahinful remarked in an interview with Graphic Sports.
The Black Stars are scheduled to participate in international friendlies against Mexico and the USA next month.
