Asante Kotoko Sporting Club are on the verge of terminating the contract of midfielder, Rashid Nortey, a mere eight months after his arrival at the club, Sportsworldghana.com can exclusively confirm.
Nortey, who joined the Porcupines in the January transfer window, had committed to a two-and-a-half-year agreement. Despite his initial promise, the 27-year-old’s time at the club saw him participate in fewer matches than anticipated, with a tally of only seven appearances and one goal, primarily due to a string of unfortunate injuries.
The club’s response to Nortey’s recurring injury issue included referring him to Dr. Kwasi Twumasi-Baah Jnr at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for assessment and treatment.
Dr. Ogum, the coach, has engaged in discussions with the former Medeama star at Beposo, outlining his short and long-term strategies. Unfortunately, Nortey was informed that his injury history renders him incompatible with the coach’s plans for the club.
Reliable sources have confirmed to Sportsworldghana that Nortey has initiated discussions with Emmanuel Dasoberi, the Administrative Manager of the club, to initiate the process of terminating his contract.
